CASE STUDIES : AutoTransAtlantic Inc - Car Dealership Web Site

The biggest challenge at this project was do develop the fast-speed parser that will be able to parse information displayed at major car auctions and display in on the web site of our customer. The updates should happen frequently as the visitors of the web site need to see only the fresh and valid offers.

There were a number of other challenges that we faced as we started work on the project:

.NET Ajax features: First project where we start to use Microsoft Ajax framework (release version) and several controls from Ajax Control Toolkit.

Time constraints: The project had to be delivered in a short time frame, so we had to work against a tight deadline without any quality deterioration.

One of the important features of the project was to implement XML parser to collect data from different sources on Internet. Another feature was to get great performance on site when user search for any auto and page should not be refreshed when user select criteria.

Web site design was implemented to make search as easy as possible and display results in a detailed to prevent user from open additional pages. Each vehicle have pictures that can be displayed on the same page so it easy for user to get all information about vehicle at once.

Quick search performance is great as well because information not load at once but loading step by step according user search criteria.

The solution that we developed has a friendly backend to manage all information on site. Search on site implemented with AJAX features so user should not refresh page to see search results, he just need to set parameters and click Search button. Backend has simple interface so administrator can quickly update content.

• Cost Advantage. The system was developed fully offshore and total costs of the project are 7-8 times lower compared with the onsite model;

• Maintenance and Further Development. New features can be implemented and added to the current website without re-implementation other parts and don’t affect on site work;

• Great architecture (3 application layers: Business Logic Layer (BLL), Data Access Layer (DAL) and User Interface Layer (UIL).
