: Lapstyle Inc - E-commerce Solution
Lapstyle Inc is a US-based company specializing in design and manufacturing of Laptop covers, iPod portable cases and MP Pillow covers. Lapstyle sells the products online using e-commerce web site.
Challenge
Our Client’s company has patented the idea of covering stuff with colorful fur, starting with portable laptops and ipods, as well as “music MP pillows” and now offers a wide range of colorful covers to its clients. Company also works on new lines of covers introducing new materials and design solutions giving its members a wonderful choice of the latest products to its members along with favorable discounts and special offers. We were asked to develop an ecommerce site that would encompass all their product lines “under one roof”.
There were a number of challenges that we faced as we started work on the project:
- Design requirements: The design has been received from the client and we were to create built-in modules within the frameworks of the given layout;
- Flash animation and PHP integration: Usage of Flash animation on front-end and PHP in back-end and xml package files to connect them;
- Paypal integration: Implementation of the shopping cart and its integration with client’s account on Paypal.com;
- Time constraints: The project had to be delivered in a short time frame, so we had to work against a tight deadline without any quality deterioration.
Solution
In short time a multifunctional ecommerce site was set up. We introduced an application that met all initial requirements. We extended the functionality of the site giving customers a possibility to make their own Laptop covers design and submit it in order to get a ready made product from LAPSYLE design creative groups, developed new sections where new products could be displayed, created a module that allow customers upload images to the site and create their own gallery. Integration of Flash animated parts has liven up the site and make it easier to operate on the site.
Technologies Utilized
Result
The application that we developed has a friendly graphic user interface and allows the user enjoy the functionality of the site without any difficulties. The Content Management System (CMS) introduced on the site facilitated the process of site management: Static pages can be easily run with the help of WYSIWYG text editor and dynamic ones with the help of built-in module that allows add, edit and delete company’s products. Introducing ability to add tax rates for each state and shipping information facilitates the process of buying products both for a customer and the Administrator of the site.
